Download our Undefeated resource for World AIDS Day

1st December, 2015

December 1 marks World AIDS Day, an opportunity for young people to get educated on HIV and show their support for those living with the illness around the world. Film is an excellent way to engage with social issues, and these new resources centred around short film Undefeated are sure to spark some excellent discussion.

Undefeated is a powerful short film developed with the charity Body & Soul as part of their Life In My Shoes campaign. The film focuses on a bright, talented girl called Blessing, whose relationships are thrown into flux, and whose world becomes a lonely place, when her friends discover she is HIV positive.

Shot in a recognizable urban setting and targeted at young people, the film really brings home the fact that these are vital and important topics to discuss and that need to be understood by all. The key message in the film surrounds the danger of gossip and ignorance surrounding such important social issues.

Using the film as stimulus the resource asks students to question what they already know about HIV, as well as getting them to consider what they would do if put in the positions of some of the character, and what would happen in the story after the credits have rolled. As well as the resource there is a detailed lesson plan which outlines the desired objectives of the resource and how to achieve them. Download both below.
