A real piece of cinema history, The Adventures of Prince Achmed is the oldest surviving animated film in the world. Made by the German animator Lotte Reininger, the way in which the movie was made back in 1926 involved cut-outs in a technique that was similar to shadow puppets - but that laid the ground for the scores of fantastic animated movies that would follow. But as well as being an important moment in the story of the movies, the film is also great fun - telling the tale of a noble Prince enlisting the help of Aladdin to battle an evil sorcerer.

This Arabian-Nights style film was made in 1926. It's an old film, featuring the characters in shadows, which is about a courageous prince named Prince Achmed. One day an evil person persuaded the prince to have a ride on a magic flying horse during the celebrations of the Caliph's birthday. The evil man instructed Prince Achmed to pull a lever, and soon the prince was being sent up into the endless sky, and went on a huge adventure on his way. I wouldn't reccommend this film to children because it is hard to understand what is going on in the mythical story, as there is no dialog. The Adventures of Prince Achmed is a short film, so it's not really suitable to see with a family.

I diddn't really like the film because I diddn't really know what was happening because there was no talking and it was just very confusing. And the parts I diddn't really get it when the horse was flying over the mountains. It was a really old film from 1926.
