Another First World War tale from War Horse author Michael Morpurgo, this gut-wrenching drama focuses on two brothers, Tommo and Charlie Peaceful and their journey from the idyllic English countryside to the hell of no-man’s-land. There is a terrible injustice at the heart of this story which has haunted many families in real life: the execution of soldiers for cowardice. This makes for gripping viewing and carries a genuine emotional impact – you’ll want to know more about this fascinating and tragic issue.

This is an incredible film that looks at the moral struggle of being a soldier in world war 1 and the drastic punishment procedures used by the British army at the time. This is quite a deep film and not for the hard-core action film lovers. It has a minimal if not non-existent use of CGI preferring to use visual effects in the place of digital ones. If you liked this film then I highly recommend the book thief as it's in a similar setting with the same emotional moral conflict.

this was an ok film. But I personally I found it very boring because personally I don't like Michael Morpugo books. This can be avoided though by keeping the running time lower. HOWEVER if you are a micheal mopurgo fan you will love it.

The film is alright , with some violence, but not a lot. I highly recommend this to Michael Morpurgo fans, but its not perfect. There are some scenes that could be improved, but its an alright film all around.

I found this film really heartfelt and thoughtful. Although I did sometimes get confused with which actor played which brother, I definitely recommend this film. I don't normally watch films like this, however I'm really glad I did :-)

My opinion of this film is that it is slightly confusing as it flicks from when they are in the war and before the war; also in the film I lost track of which actor was playing Tommo and which actor was playing Charlie. This is why I have rated this film 3 stars.
