FILMCLUB is committed to protecting you and your family's personal information when you are using our services. We want our services to be safe and enjoyable environments for our audience. This Privacy Policy relates to our use of any personal information you provide to us through the FILMCLUB website.

In order to provide you with the full range of FILMCLUB services, we are sometimes required to collect information about you.

We are legally obliged to use your information in line with all laws concerning the protection of personal information, including the Data Protection Act 1998

Under the Data Protection Act, we have a legal duty to protect any information we collect from you. We use leading technologies and encryption software to safeguard your data, and keep strict security standards to prevent any unauthorised access to it.

What information do we collect?

We collect three kinds of information from visitors to FILMCLUB:

  • Data you give to us during the register and login process feedback (through visitors emailing us) 
  • Site usage information, using cookies and 
  • Page tagging techniques including JavaScript.

Site Usage Information 

Cookies are pieces of data that are often created when you visit a website, and which are stored in the cookies directory of your computer. Cookies are created when you visit FILMCLUB.

Our cookies store a random number on your computer to help us count the number of times users return to our site.

The cookies do not contain any personal information about you, and they cannot be used to identify an individual user.

You can set your browser not to accept cookies. If you do not know how to do this, contact us, giving details on the type of browser you are using, and we will do our best to help.

Page tagging

We use JavaScript to aggregate and analyse customer usage patterns on our website. This provides us with data on usability and behaviour. We use this information to make changes to the layout of the website and to the information in it so we can continually improve the experience of using the FILMCLUB website. This does not collect any personal or identifiable information about users.

You can disable JavaScript on your computer. If you would like advice on how to disable JavaScript please contact us, giving details about the type of browser you use and we will do our best to help. Disabling JavaScript should not affect your ability to access FILMCLUB's website.

FILMCLUB contains links to other websites, this privacy policy applies only to our site, so you should always be aware when you are moving to another site and read the privacy statement of any other site(s) which collect personal information about you.

We do not pass on any personal information you have given us to any other site.

When will the FILMCLUB contact me?

The FILMCLUB may contact you: 

  • In relation to the functioning of any service you have signed up for in order to ensure that the FILMCLUB can deliver the services to you; 
  • Where you have opted to receive further correspondence; 
  • In relation to any contribution you have made to FILMCLUB or to the FILMCLUB forum; 
  • To invite you to participate in surveys about the FILMCLUB services (participation is always voluntary);

Offensive or inappropriate content on the FILMCLUB website

We will delete any offensive or inappropriate content submitted to our website and in some cases may contact your headteacher.

Can I find out what personal information the FILMCLUB holds about me?

Under the Data Protection Act you have the right to request a copy of the personal information the FILMCLUB holds about you and to have any inaccuracies corrected. (We charge 10 for information requests and will require you to prove your identity with 2 pieces of approved photographic identification.) We will use reasonable efforts to supply, correct or delete personal information about you on our files.
