Super 8

This film was good and it certainly lured a wide variety of audiences whilst creating something for us to aspire to (filming). Steven Spielberg portrayed a film within a film as he described the journey of young people trying out filming. Joe and his friends are very enthusiastic about filming and they go down to a train yard where they witness a train crash which piques their curiosity and makes them wanting for more as they discover a whole new world with dangers and aliens who threaten their way of living. Super 8 was one of those films that show not everything is peachy and that not all families are as happy as they seem to be, also this film has hidden meanings which are grief, bereavement and letting go of the past as Joe must let go of his Mum's memory and he helps the alien by giving it his moms necklace. Steven Spielberg brings his wonderful imagination onto the screen with stunning visual effects and deep thinking that makes you think about the film long after it's finished. If you have watched E.T then you should watch Super 8 as it is like a new and improved version of the hit film E.T. that so many of us still watch. If you are into aliens then you should watch this film as it really portrays the relationship between aliens and humans well and we learn a lesson which is that some things only need to be cared for even if they are aliens and this film makes you realize that whilst still keeping you on the edge of your seat the ending however well you'll have to watch it to find out. So if you have not watched this film yet then you need to do so as it is one that you should not miss.

The BFG

I didn't like the animation but the B-F-G was a funny character because his ears were massive. I also liked the bit when the army captured the giants because it was scary. I recommend that the younger ones get an adult to watch it with them. The B-F-G made up some funny words like snozcumber and other funny ones. It is a great film for kids.

Wall-E

Even though some people have said to me "WALL-E is rubbish because they don't speak", I still like it. When I first saw it I couldn't predict what would happen. It is a funny film but sad in some places. The futuristic storyline is an interesting take on what might happen to the human race. Even though the robots didn't use dialogue, you could still tell what their emotions were by a clever use of body language and facial expression. It is a thought provoking film and I would recommend it.

Where The Wild Things Are

I loved this film! The story was about a funny young boy called Max, and he felt like he wasn't wanted at home .So he ran away and came to a deserted island but Max did not know that he was on the island where the Wild Things lived. It was a happy film, a bit violent in the middle but happy and sad at the end because when Max left, some of them started crying, and that made me feel a bit upset. Then Max sailed back home to be with his family. I think the actors and actresses were brilliant. I loved the way it was filmed and I think it would appeal to 5 to 10 year olds. I would recommend it. It reminds me of the book which i also really enjoy. The music did help create an atmosphere. My favourite part of the film was when Max shouted "Feed me woman" to his mum and I laughed quite a lot.

The Cave Of The Yellow Dog

I gave it 2 stars because it was in China so I didn't understand it. It was about a girl that moves around a lot and she makes her own house which is a hut. She found a dog in a cave, but the dad didn't" want her to have it because he thought wolves would follow them. At the end they kept it because the dog saved the baby. They made cheese and milk. They were a real family.

The Wild Child

I thought this film was great because we could learn a little bit of French even though it was subtitled. I like the part when the doctor taught the wild boy, who was called Victor, how to talk and walk. I didn't like the part when the doctor put him in the cupboard when he did the right thing to see if he would object to the injustice. I give it 5/5 because of the way the doctor taught him how to do things. I also didn't like the part when the children at the school for the deaf were treating him badly just because he was so different to them.

Bridge To Terabithia

Middle school is a difficult phase of life for any child, and Jess Aarons (Josh Hutcherson) is no different. In addition to struggling to fit in at school, Jess is struggling to fit in at home to. Between the bullies at school and his parents' financial woes at home, the only thing Jess has to look forward to is the big race on the playground. When the day of the "boys only" race finally arrives, though, he is beaten by a girl - the new girl at school, Leslie Burke (Annasophia Robb). Despite his resulting resentment, Leslie and Jess soon become friends. Leslie loves to make up fantastical stories, and Jess is a budding artist. The two use their talents to create a magical kingdom all their own, and an old rope over a stream in the woods becomes the entrance to Terabithia. In Terabithia, Jess and Leslie escape from the troubles of life to a place where they, as rulers, can conquer anything. Finding himself suddenly faced with a horrible tragedy, Jess uses what he learned from Leslie to overcome his grief. Imagination has power, not only to provide an escape, but also to provide an outlet for creative problem-solving. Despite what the movie trailers may lead people to believe, Bridge to Terabithia is not a light-hearted adventure. In fact, those not familiar with the book will be in for quite a shock. Just be forewarned, bring plenty of tissues. "Bridge to Terabithia"

ET: The Extra-Terrestrial

E.T. is about an alien who crash lands into a planet i like to call Earth. He meets a boy who thinks he is a monster. When they know each other good the boy shows his brother then his younger sister. In the movie E.T. speaks and says E.T. phone home. E.T. can be a normal person and he can heal people. In the end the boy,his brother and the brothers friends help E.T. to go home. In my eyes the movie is saying an alien can be a normal human bieng.
