Films by season & age - Back In The Day (Ages 12-15)
Seasons are a great way to explore different ideas through watching a group of films. Why not try watching all the films in a season and make some time for discussion. Topics and discussion points are included.
- 2001 - A Space Odyssey (U)
- Iceman (PG)
- Jurassic Park (PG)
- King Kong (PG)
- One Million Years BC (PG)
- The Lost World (U)
In 1984 in the county of Cheshire, a discovery was made which instantly expanded our knowledge of the world of our ancestors – the body of an ancient British man, estimated to be around 2000 years old, and incredibly well-preserved in a peat marsh. Named after the area of Lindow Moss where he was found, he was called “The Lindow Man” – and soon he would be delivered to London’s British Museum, where he would help millions of visitors from around the globe see what life (and death) might have been like for us thousands of years ago.
But this spring, Lindow Man is going “home” - returning to his native north-west to go on display at the Manchester Museum until March 2009. So in honour of this homecoming, here at FilmClub we decided to gather together a season of movies concerned with cavemen, dinosaurs, and all things prehistoric – although be warned, some might be more historically accurate than others!
SUGGESTED PAIR
Why not compare The Lost World - a true classic from the silent era, made all the way back in 1925 - with the brand new cinema hit 10,000 BC?
TALKING POINTS
