In the early years of World War II, Britain was still concerned about the possibility of the German army not only maintaining its grip on mainland Europe, but invading the UK. However, it was felt that such an invasion might be more stealthy than spectacular – and this example of British wartime propaganda captures just that fear. The movie tells the tale of a small, fictional village that plays host to a company of British soldiers – but soon, the villagers realise that their guests are in fact German, and that as ordinary citizens they must now fight to defend their corner of the country.
