This hard-hitting film won an Oscar in the year it was released - and deservedly so. In the street slang of South Africa's Johannesburg, "Tsotsi" means gang member, and the story here follows one such gangster as he goes about his life of violent crime and mindless thuggery. But when a carjacking goes nightmarishly wrong, he finds himself looking after a baby boy - and the responsibility for this new life means he starts to take a long, hard look at his own. Make no mistake, Tsotsi is a powerful movie, and it does contain depressingly realistic scenes of violence - but it's also a film with a hugely important message.

i usually do not like films where you have to read subtitles. however i think Tsosti change my mind completly. After a while, i forgot i was reading the subtitles, and got hooked in the story. it was moving, watching how people in the third world lived. i thought the acting and the scenery was good, and the film got me intrigued. A good film.

Tsotsi is a good film in places but i thought it was very hard reading the subtitles and watching the film at the same time.

Tsotsi: this film was actually quite good. The film had subtitles which at first i was quite annoyed about, but after a while you become used to it, infact it actually gives you more dramatic impact as you are also listening to the characters speak the language they actually would have. The film got me hooked to the story line. It is amazing to see how third world people live and the difference their society is to ours. A great film!

I think this film is good because its about a little gangster who has his own gang and was brought up in a rough life.
He lives in a small hut and has a very violent neighbourhood.
He proves to a diffrent gang that he is not just small and weak and he tries to kidnap a car but ends up with a car and a baby.
Near the end of the film he gives the baby back but is arrested for stealing and kidnap and also attempted for murder.

i loved this film, i was instantly hooked. it is very moving and gives you an insight into what life is like for those living in poverty. This is one of my favourite films i have watched at film club so far and if it had not been for film club i doubt i would have ever watched it. very good!
