Director Krzysztof Kieslowski’s “Three Colours” films make an unusual trilogy. They were, Kieslowski said, inspired by the French flag and its symbolism of liberty, equality and brotherhood - but even if that doesn’t make sense when you’re watching the movies, what’s left is still a collection of three terrific films. Set in Paris and featuring a brilliant performance from actress Juliette Binoche, “Blue” is the completely unsentimental story of a woman trying to deal with the death of her husband and daughter – and finding that there are still surprises left in life, both welcome and otherwise.
