Every so often a film comes along that might just change the way you think about movies – and There Will Be Blood is one of them. It tells the story of a man named Daniel Plainview – an “oil man” in the America of the 1900s who makes his fortune travelling the country persuading people where oil has been found to let him drill for it. It’s a job that’s well suited to his cut-throat personality – but his personality is softened at least a little by his relationship with his adopted son H.W. But as the years go by and Daniel becomes more and more wealthy, he also becomes more and more cut off from everyone around him. With an incredible performance from the British actor Daniel Day Lewis as Plainview (for which he won the 2008 Oscar), There Will Be Blood is a movie that will live on in your memory long after the closing credits have rolled.
