By the 1920s, many Irish people had decided that military action was the only way that British rule of their country would be brought to an end. This is the story of two brothers who fight together against the British, but later find themselves on opposite sides of a civil war that breaks out after the Irish Free State comes into existence. This is history not from the point of view of the powerful, but of the ordinary people who find themselves caught up in the big events of their time.

The Wind That Shakes The Barley: I liked this film for the historical aspect. The film was great but it took such a long time before anything big started to begin in the story line, but when it got going it was a great film and i would recommend it to those who like historicalfilms
Fascinating facts
The film opened in 105 UK cinemas. Three times more than any of director Ken Loach's previous films.
