In 1946 Andy Dufresne is sentenced to life imprisonment for the murder of his wife and her lover. He's sent to Shawshank State Prison, where for the next twenty years he seems to be a model prisoner, despite protesting his innocence. But he still yearns for freedom - and he still longs to escape. Rejecting clich?s of prison films, this thoughtful, measured film instead focuses on human potential and the survival of hope even in the most hopeless situations.

An amazing visual adaption from Stephen King’s “The Shawshank Redemption”, tell the story of Andy Dufresne, imprisoned for the murder of his wife and lover. Whilst in jail he meets up with a number of people, the most significant being Red.
He grows a bond with Red and this bond carries on even after his night of freedom. Amazing acting, and amazing directing, I could have wished for nothing better from an adaptation of a novel.

One of my fav movies of all time.I mostly like the story of the man who was innocent but still got put away in jail. The best bit is the ‘breakout’.10 outa 10.
Fascinating facts
Although a very modest hit in theatres it became one of the biggest grossing video rentals of all time.
In the scene in The Shawshank Redemption in which see a mugshot of Morgan Freeman’s character Red as a young man, the photograph is actually of Freeman’s son - fellow actor Alfonso.
