In 1904, three London children move to the country after their father is falsely imprisoned, forced to live in poverty in rural Yorkshire. But the children don't simply wait for an adult to save the day. As soon as they have the chance, they try and free their father themselves - with their optimism mirrored in that which runs through this much-loved movie. Although set more than 100 years ago, The Railway Children has a timeless quality, offering adventure and excitement, but grounding those thrills in the everyday.
