An adaptation of a bestselling novel by Nicholas Sparks, The Notebook revolves around a young man named Noah Calhoun's regular visits to an elderly woman at a local nursing home. Rather than bore her with tales of everyday life, Calhoun reads from an old, faded notebook containing the sweeping account of a young couple whose love affair was tragically put to a halt after their separation in the midst of World War II. The result is an imaginative and charming love story.

Not usually my type of film but it had a good story with decent acting. The only negative thing is that it dragged on a bit for my liking.

Greater than Romeo and Juliet, more powerful than Titanic, The notebook is the most romantic love story ever told.
The story uses the most romantic settings. The beautiful sunset at the start is enough to make you cry. The actors have an amazing on-screen chemistry which emphasizes the power of the emotion in the film.
When the story rips the two lovers apart we are on the edge of our seats. When the main characters Ally and Noah meet again after 7 years they have the most romantic argument where Ally says “why didn’t you write me?” and Noah explains that he did write and our hearts jump with joy.
I highly recommend this film for teenagers as it shows what love truly is.
The film locks it self in our thoughts, our emotions and our hearts for all time.
Fascinating facts
Ryan Gosling was the director's (Nick Cassavetes) first and only choice for the role of Noah.
The Notebook’s star Gena Rowlands is the mother of director Nick Cassavetes – whose father was the late film-maker John Cassavetes.
