In 1952 two friends left their comfortable, middle class homes in Argentina and set out on a road trip around Latin America on a battered motorcycle. They were Alberto Granado and his young friend Ernesto Guevara, the man who would subsequently be known as Che Guevara, Marxist guerilla and advocate of violent revolution for the working classes in South America. This exhilarating and tender Spanish language film has nothing to do with armed struggle - instead, it focuses on the people and the landscape of the region and the way in which the young men's experiences formed their political and emotional outlook. Motorcycle diaries is a slow paced yet interesting story about two friends who set out from their homeland and travel round South America.
Even though it has a basic set, it puts it’s message across of how two mens lives are linked for a brief time.

Fascinating facts

Rodrigo De la Serna is a second counsin of Ernesto 'Che' Gevara.
