On its release, The Lion King was hailed as an instant classic from Disney. This animated epic is not only beautiful visually, but the story is equally captivating. Lion cub Simba runs away from his pride, believing he caused the tragic death of his beloved father King Mufasa. With Simba away, his evil uncle Scar can become king. But while wandering in the African wilderness, Simba meets Pumba and Timon, two colourful characters, whose friendship gives him the strength to face his destiny.

Probably THE BEST animated movie I have ever been fortunate to set eyes upon. The Lion King tells the story of the death of King Musafa, the running away of Simba, his meeting up with friends and his destiny to fight his evil uncle and re-claim his rightful place as King of the jungle.

The music is astounding! It really captures every emotion that the characters feel. Every character is unique and greatly portrayed through facial expression, their actions and the background music.

It is truly one of the greatest classic movies of all time, and I hope that EVERYONE has seen it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

5/5 :-)

A lion cub is fooled by his ambitious uncle, who is next in line to the throne, that he has killed the Lion King, his father and flees their land in shame. As an adult he is persuaded to return to try and claim the throne that is rightfully his.

I love this film with great songs and lyrics by Elton John. No matter how many times I see it i cry when Simba’s ( the main character) dad dies. This tragic event was caused by Scar ( the evil villan that wants to be king) but he makes Simba believe it was him. Simba runs away to find some great friends ... his old friend Nana comes to find him… to hear the rest you must watch it! I love this film and it was followed by a brilliant musical one of which we are performing at school.

Lion King is the best!!!!

Its been ages since I’ve watched the lion king but I have great memories of it. With its great mix of tragic loss, drama and thrills :), it has to go down as 1 of my favorite disny films. (When Simba’s dad dies, it always makes me cry!)

Fascinating facts

It took three years for Disney’s animators to complete the scene in The Lion King in which the wildebeest stampede.
