This unusual film might best be described as an illustrated autobiography of legendary Hollywood producer Robert Evans. Narrated by Evans himself, the movie tells his incredible story, from his first screen role as an actor (he was spotted at a swimming pool and cast on the spot), through his rise into eventually becoming head of Paramount Pictures - where he produced, among others, The Godfather and Chinatown. But success was not enough for Evans, and he soon descended into addiction and unemployment. The film’s dazzling visuals are provided by clips from Evans’ movies, photographs, animations, home video and news footage.

Fascinating facts

The title of the film comes from the words of legendary producer Daryl F Zanuck when he heard that executives wanted to sack the young Robert Evans from his role in the 1957 drama The Sun Also Rises.

The soundtrack narration, in which all parts are played by Robert Evans, is taken directly from his audio-book of his autobiography.
