We’re in central Europe in the late 19th Century and the biggest sensation around is an extraordinary conjuror who has just come to scenic Vienna. But while everyone agrees his show is great, there is debate over who this mysterious man might be. Could he actually have real magical powers? Or is he part of some political plot aimed at damaging the royal family? This is a beautiful-looking film filled with romance, intrigue and amazing effects, with a great cast including Edward Norton and a script that brilliantly pulls you into the story.

‘The Illusionist is a media masterpiece. The stunning settings, sinister characters and forbidden love affairs group together to make an amazing and astounding film.
I found this film very surprising mostly because of the ingenious plot twist at the end, that nobody saw coming. It was an extremely clever film, I can’t believe that this is the first time I’ve seen it! Where do such brilliant films hide?

This film undoubtably deserves to be clased as ‘one of the best!’ From its mysterious characters, to it’s engenious plot, the whole thing was a sort of; well a sort of Illusion.
I recommend this film highly to absolutely everyone, but feel the need to say, it is rather cold untill the end when a mesmorising path unweaves itself to leave you with an inspiring and truely beautiful resolution. I’d never seen this film before; I won’t be making the same mistake twice!!

Fascinating facts
The Illusionist’s Edward Norton performed some of the tricks in the film himself, having spent time learning the art of illusion from some top magicians - including James Norton (no relation!) who also coached the cast of the TV series Hustle.
