Imagine that you wake up one morning, start getting on with your daily routine – and discover that the world is about to end. In fact, in just a few minutes it’s about to be destroyed by a race of ugly and bad-tempered aliens to make way for a “hyperspace bypass”. That’s the fate that befalls (very) ordinary earthling Arthur Dent at the start of this hilarious adaptation of a much-loved TV show from the 1980s (which was a bookand radio series before then). But once his home in the suburbs has been blown up along with everything else on the planet, the adventure is only just beginning for Arthur – as he heads into space with a crew of misfits that includes a two-headed intergalactic politician named Zaphod Beeblebrox and a permanently depressed robot called Marvin.
