With this classic comedy, director and star Charlie Chaplin created a film that is once a hilarious tale of mistaken identity and a powerful satire - made at a time when the world was on the brink of chaos after the rise of the Nazis in Germany. It's the last days of World War I and a wounded soldier loses his memory. On his release, the soldier opens a little barber shop and settles into regular life. Through a series of events, he is soon mistaken for the evil dictator, who he resembles - and is given a chance to make a speech to the troubled nation that could change the course of history for the better.

The Great Dictator is a film set just before the second world war. It is a comedy but aimed at adults really. This film is in black and white but don’t let that put you off. It is very funny at the start but gets more serious towards the end. I enjoyed it in parts.
