The first film based on Philip Pullman’s His Dark Materials trilogy of fantasy novels. The action takes place in a parallel universe version of 19th century England - where everyone has an daemonic ‘familiar’ in the shape of an animal and the world is ruled by the all-powerful Magesterium. The enthralling story finds 12-year-old orphan Lyra becoming embroiled in a conspiracy involving missing children - which takes her to the far corners of the globe and involves a talking polar bear, a witch, and a magical substance called “dust”...

After reading the His Dark Materials trilogy, probably nothing would be good enough. Films are never as good as the book but they took out huge chunks of information, such as any reference to religion (err.. isn’t this one of the main points of the whole trilogy?), because of time and not being able to put such a complicated idea forward to children.
Here’s an idea: don’t make a complicated trilogy into a film for 10 year olds.

I thought it was quite boring because it was a bit far fetched.I did not like that the animals talk. The film ended good because the polar bear was king again and the city was at peace.

I think that this film is amazing dramatic and full of exitement. I especially like the part where the two bears fight and the part where the gyptians sve the girl from the goblers. Some of the film was funny and I think it was AMAZING with a capital A.
