I think that the movie was OK i havent read the book so i dont know just how much of a let down it really was! The CGI was great but it didnt really get me excited and its FAR too long! But overall it would be a great movie to see for FREE.

Fascinating facts

The Golden Compass is the American title of the book which Philip Pullman published in the UK as "Northern Lights". Ten thousand girls turned up for open auditions in Cambridge, Oxford, Exeter and Kendal for the role of Lyra Belacqua. In June 2006, twelve-year-old London schoolgirl Dakota Blue Richards won the part meeting the approval of Philip Pullman himself.

The Golden Compass is the American title of the first of Phillip Pulman’s His Dark Materials books – its original British title was Northern Lights.
