Many great movies have been based around two equally massive stars coming together on-screen – and Forbidden Kingdom is another. A dazzling martial-arts adventure, it unites two of the biggest names in the movie business – the legendary duo of Jackie Chan and Jet Li. The story finds a young American kung-fu fan named Jason Tripitikas finding an antique golden staff in the shop where he buys his martial arts DVDs. But when the store is robbed and the owner shot, Jason is told he must return the staff to its rightful owner – and he then finds himself taken back in time to ancient China! There, his quest is helped (more or less!) by a pair of of kung-fu warriors – the rowdy, wine-swigging Lu Yan (played by Jackie Chan) and the calmer but just as expert Silent Monk (played by Jet Li). Laden with banter between its two stars, The Forbidden Kingdom is also full of mind-blowing kung fu and physical stunts – it a movie that will be a treat for all film fans, but particularly for lovers of martial arts.

The missing link between ?¢‚Ǩ‚Ñ¢00s wushu, ?¢‚Ǩ‚Ñ¢80s kids?¢‚Ǩ‚Ñ¢ fantasy and ?¢‚Ǩ‚Ñ¢70s chop-socky, this manages to be thoroughly entertaining - and the face-off between Chan and Li is worth the entrance price alone.

I think this film is 2 films entwined together the Karate Kid and Monkey as the young kid is transported back to ancient china and needs to learn Kung fu to help release the Monkey King, quite a lot of action, the fights are well staged and there’s enough action to keep the plot moving nicely along.
