Film-maker Luc Besson lets his imagination run wild with this incredible science-fiction action fantasy set in the 23rd century. He conceived the story when a teenager, and it’s bursting with ideas that could have leapt from the pages of a comic book. Flying cars and thousand-storey skyscrapers are just the beginning of the visual treats on offer, while Bruce Willis does a sterling job as the supercool hero – a grouchy cab-driver dragged reluctantly into the story when a beautiful alien by the unlikely name of Leeloo (Mila Jojovich) crash-lands on his vehicle, an accident that kickstarts a quest to prevent the imminent destruction of mankind...

I thought this film was a total mess at the begining. It looked like A bad star treck show. I was’nt interested i was’nt entertained and i did’nt want to watch anymore. But then when the fifth element layloo came into the film it all became interesting, funny, sad, and then you see why you had to watch the boring part at the begining. It was to simply inform you of things you could hagve been very confused about. Altough i think the start could have been much better it waas’nt that long atleast so there was’nt too much bordem and all the exitment totally made up it. My favourite part was when it was getting far into it and layloo would’nt stop saying multipass in her funny accent. It seems a silly part that should be a persons favourite but i thought it was sweet like a little puppy chewing on a shoe it’s annoying but it’s ever so cute. So all in all bad start good end.

Great Sci-fi movie with lots of action and suspense. The special effects and alien characters are really good, even for 1997.

Most Bruce Willis films are good, but I found this one surprisingly exciting. Most Back to the Future fans should like this. The interpretation of what the future will be like is quite awful but, what do you expect?

Fascinating facts

The strange language spoken by Leeloo in The Fifth Element was invented by director Luc Besson. He and actress Milla Jovovich were able to have entire conversations on set that no-one else could understand.
