Young Jimmy Rabbitte has an unlikely vision - to bring soul music to Dublin. To this end, he brings together a motley assortment of musicians who, against the odds, start to gel into something special - but can these volatile, working-class kids keep it together long enough to find fame and fortune? Hilarious, profane and driven along by classic 60s soul tunes, director Alan Parker's film of Roddy Doyle's book harnesses the raw energy of its young
cast, most of who were making their acting debuts here.

The Commitments is an extrodinary piece of film which takes you through a journey of romance, tension and humour. With myself getting pulled in the film, it was very hard to tell that any of the actors where amatures. With the songs, the story and the locations all near perfection, its hard to tell where the film could have improved. A marvelous and extremely enjoyable film which i would highly recommend to all ages
