One of the first (and certainly one of the best) movies about a heist gone wrong. This film noir follows old-timer Doc Reidenschneider, who has just got out of jail, as he attempts to organise one last jewel robbery. What follows is an elaborate mix of double-crossing and double-dealing that moves at a relentless pace. Will Doc and his gang get away with the loot, or will they be forced to admit that crime doesn’t pay? Look out for a very early appearance by Marilyn Monroe as the villain’s girlfriend.
