It takes a brave man to head an uprising against the Empire in ancient Rome - and Spartacus is the man for the job. Sold as a slave, Spartacus is placed in gladiator school, where he trains to a mighty standard. Seeing more and more of the pitiful lot of slaves, Spartacus starts to stir up a revolt against the cruel Romans, kicking off when his fellow gladiator and friend refuses to kill Spartacus in a contest, at the risk of being killed himself. The slaves' rebellion leads to a bloody, spectacular battle.
