Great movies can be made by anyone – or so hope the heroes of Son of Rambow, a hugely likeable coming-of-age tale set in the Britain of the 1980s. Having heard about a competition that’s being run for young film-makers, Lee is determined not just to take part, but to triumph – despite always being in trouble at school, he’s got plenty of ambition and sees his older brother’s dodgy video equipment as the way to fulfil it . But his plans don’t come alive until he meets Will – a shy kid whose religious parents won’t let him watch movies at all. Together, the unlikely duo decide to make an action-packed sequel to the adventure movie Rambo (a huge hit in the 80s) – and the results paint paint a warm and funny picture of growing up (and making movies!)

It is a comedy with many breath taking twists and scary and sad bits at times. But absolutely fantastic!
Fascinating facts
Although the film was warmly supported by Rambo’s creator Sylvester Stallone, it still needed to change the spelling to Rambow for legal reasons – something which you’ll see referred to if you stick around until the very end of the closing credits...
