A toy company believes it’s onto something special when it uses the latest top-secret military technology in a series of action figures - enabling them to talk and act as if they were real soldiers. But they’ve underestimated the power of the microchips they've employed – because when the two opposing sides of the new toy line bust out of their packaging to engage in real combat, it turns out they actually are real soldiers! The result is a brilliantly-realised and quick-witted action-comedy.

Fascinating facts

George Kennedy, Clint Walker, Ernest Borgnine and Jim Brown were reunited to play the voices of the soldiers. Some 31 years earlier they appeared together as soldiers in the classic WWII movie 'The Dirty Dozen' (1967).

Actors Michael McKean, Christopher Guest and Harry Shearer all “star” in Small Soldiers as the voices of the Gorgonites – a reunion for the three, who are also well-known to comedy fans as the men behind spoof rock group Spinal Tap.
