This Oscar-winning musical comedy is a brilliant explosion of colour and energy, with the dance scenes acknowledged as some of the genre’s very best. The light-hearted (if, to our eyes, pretty sexist) plot has a rough-edged farmer coming to realise that he needs a wife – but it’s only once the vows have been made that he tells his bride about the six brothers he expects her to look after as well. Furious, she sets about civilising the unruly brood.

The film takes place in an old town in the country. The film is set in the olden times. The main characters are the seven brothers and Milly. The film is about one of the brothers finding true love. My favourite part of the film is when the brother trying to find true love sings bless your beautiful hide I would recommend this film to people who like films about comedy/ finding true love.

Fascinating facts

Every scene in Seven Brides for Seven Brothers had to be shot twice as some cinemas weren’t equipped to show the “widescreen” version - so a normal version was produced at the same time.
