All is not well on Tweedy's chicken farm. Led by the plucky Ginger and ably abetted by American interloper Rocky, the chickens are on the verge of a revolution – because the evil Mrs Tweedy is planning to turn them all into pies! This good-natured animated film tips its hat to several classic escape movies, most obviously The Great Escape, but ploughs a furrow all its own in which chickens knit, fly planes, hatch plans and eventually make their longed-for exit. Cracking stuff.

Chicken Run is a really good movie.I liked the part were the chickens were flying in the air it was really funny. Most of the movie was really funny and good fun to watch. My favourite part of the whole movie was the part where the rooster came flying over the big fence and all the chickens thought that he could fly.I would give this movie four stars out of five.

Chicken Run was fab! It was all about a chicken called Ginger. She was very determined to get out of Tweedy’s Chicken Farm as a lot of the animals had been killed for food. Heroic Rocky the Rooster (the famous flying bird) turned up and taught the distraught chickens how to fly! Ginger and Rocky made a deal that if Ginger hid Rocky from the Circus people Rocky in return would teach all of the horrified chickens how to fly! Eventually Mrs. Tweedy the owner of the chicken farm read a magazine telling her about this pie machine so Mr. Tweedy builds it! The farmer has to pick a chicken to put in and it unfortunately chose Ginger. Suddenly Rocky the Rooster comes for a rescue and heroically sweeps Ginger off her feet and saves her! Eventually the time comes for Rocky the rooster to show his supposable talents. The night before he escapes without anyone knowing! The next day Ginger comes to find him but oh no he’s gone! Ginger also finds out that he does not actually fly he is just shot by a cannon. Soon the time comes when to chickens have to fight against them! In there defend they build a aeroplane and try to escape. In the end Rocky returns and all of the chickens live free and happily ever after!

Fascinating facts

In the opening scene, the penguin from Wallace & Gromit – The Wrong Trousers (also made by Chicken Run co-director Nick Park) makes a short cameo appearance.
