Amazing Grace depicts the life of the 18th century politician William Wilberforce – one of the youngest ever members of parliament, who left behind a legacy that would be remembered for hundreds of years. At the age of just 21, he finds the courage to take on the British Empire in order to abolish slavery – over time becoming allies with Prime Minister James Pitt as the two men fight together to put an end to the inhuman trade once and for all. With an all-star cast including Albert Finney as Wilberforce's confidante John Newton, the film was originally released to coincide with the 200th anniversary of the abolition of slavery.

this film AMAZING GRACE is an emotional yet humorous film it looks at two didfferent views of william wilberforce ( Albert Finney)1. Where william is commited his life to this protest 2. when he gives up but still belives that slavery is wrong.this film shows how you can acheive something even if it takes a while. it also gives encouragement towards young people and adults who want to acheive there goal but haven’t belived in their goal.

Fascinating facts

A special screening of the film was shown in Buncrana, Co Donegal in Ireland, because of John Newton's link with the county – in 1748 his slave ship, the Greyhound, came ashore after making it through a terrible storm. The experience began a spiritual journey for Newton, which led him to write the song Amazing Grace.
