Adapted from Nick Hornby's bestselling novel, About a Boy tells the tale of an unlikely bond between free-and-easy, desperately hip bachelor Will, who lives off a large inheritance and has no responsibilities, and Marcus – an odd young boy with a depressed mother. this is a very funny film starring hugh grant.Will hates children, he did’nt like being one (partly because his dad released a record called santas super sleigh) and he did’nt want one.wills problem is that he is absesed with women.one day he meets a lady who must look after her friends child and takes him along on hers and wills picnic. the boys dad was a hippy and he did’nt like him and he wanted a new one so he decided to try and make will marry hi mum…

this film was good. It was funny and i would defo watch it again. I would recomend it to anyone. For people who like comedy this is a great film.
Fascinating facts
The character of Ali in the movie has an Arsenal flag prominently displayed in his bedroom – the football team supported by Nick Hornby, writer of the novel on which About A Boy is based!
At the beginning of the film Marcus says he would be able to take care of his mum (Toni Collette) if he were Haley Joel Osment. Toni Collette played Haley Joel Osment's mother in The Sixth Sense.
