Barrister Archibald Leach (hilariously played by John Cleese) is very “British” - a repressed, straight-laced chap who is shaken out of his complacency when he becomes embroiled in the ever more farcical shenanigans of a motley group of criminals, including a beautiful con-woman. Veteran director Charles Crichton (78 at the time the film was made) employs all his experience to great comic effect, while Kevin Kline deservedly won an Oscar for Best Supporting Actor after his portrayal of the demented “weapons man” Otto.

I know i’m not fifteen, but i find this film very funny! I will tell you now, it is not a film to teach young children about fish! It contains a lot a swearwords and i will not mention how rude it is but do not think it is an all age film. It is a brilliant comedy though! If you can stand all that i have mentioned, you will love it!
Fascinating facts
A Fish Called Wanda was the last film made by Charles Crichton – the director of such classic British comedies as Hue and Cry and The Lavender Hill Mob.
