Rapper Eminem stars as Jimmy 'Rabbit' Smith in a part largely based on his own experiences. 8 Mile Road is the stretch separating two parts of Detroit - the northern white suburbs and the mostly African American south of the town. Rabbit, a factory worker, lives in a trailer park on the dividing strip. The film follows a week in his life as he struggles with relationships, with work and with his passion - competing at local rap battles. An unflinching look at life in the city, with a predictably brilliant soundtrack.

i love eminem and his music. When i found out he was doing a film i was ecstatic because he has so many talents and i didn’t know acting was one of them. I think this film is just his brilliantly written songs put into action, as he is the main character but also quite concealed in himself. This film did actually brings me quite close to tears when you see people who have been through this at such young ages, but pull through this despite everything to aspire to become something else, for themselves as well as for their children.
Eminem and his crew definately bring this view to light to the audience.

Your film rocks so does your music.

Fascinating facts

The sheet of paper on which Jimmy writes his lyrics is the real sheet that Eminem wrote "Lose Yourself" on. The sheet of paper sold for $10,000 on an eBay auction.
