A young boy's desire to become England's next national cricketing hero in the 1950s is at the heart of this excellent British drama. The boy in question is David - an eleven year old from a Jewish family who fled the rise of the Nazis in Germany before World War II. But David lacks the skill necessary to make his dreams come true, and so seeks the advice of his next door neighbours, the Samuelses - a cricket-mad family from Jamaica who have themselves just arrived in England. With romance and prejudice both making their presences felt, this London-set movie has an important message and a great story as well.

This film was amazing!!!!!!! I loved the way that the boy grew close to the family and how no one else liked them. It was very (and I mean very) racist! But it is still and extroadinary film!
