This gorgeous Technicolor fantasy is one of the most beautiful films ever made in Britain - and one of the best. When a World War II pilot bails out of his plane without a parachute, he seems certain to die. But a heavenly messenger has made a mistake, and the airman miraculously survives - only to find that Heaven doesn't give up so easily. Combining comedy, romance and drama, this much-loved film from director Michael Powell puts the emphasis on celebrating life over fearing death, an important message for an audience that was then newly emerged from a terrible war.

I didn't like this movie, I felt it was too old for a 9 year old boy, it was hard to follow in parts, the movie I feel was more aimed at probably 12+. By Jack Thornton

I really didn't enjoy this film because it keeps switching from colour to black and white. It's also very hard to understand. The film is set in WWII. I would reccomend this for people who like old fashioned films.

Matter of life and death is 100mins of a man which is dead or alive!!! I like the bit where the girl was playing table tennis and then she stood still in a funny way!!! I was a bit scary when the plane was on fire I was getting a bit scared!!! I don't know why he was still alive when he jumped off the plane????? This film is really for 8+ not for 7-0. I din't really like this film so I don't want to watch this ever again!!!

I really didn't enjoy this movie. I thought it was boring and in black and white and changed to colour sometimes. It was a love story and a man fell out of a plane and the woman tried to save him. There was nothing in this movie that I weas really interested in and no funny parts so I think that was why I didnt enjoy it. There was only one funny part when time froze when they were playing table tennis. I wouldn't recommend this movie to other children, probably for adults on a rainy day.
