Later, a mysterious benefactor grants him a fortune, and he moves to London to learn how to be a gentleman. However, Pip will find that moving up in the world has a emotional, as well as a financial, price.

Great Expectations is a amazing film, even though its in black and white.
In great expectations there is a boy called pip and he was a orfen who lives with his sisiter and her husband. They are not very kind, to him.Everyone who see's pip they wonder what kind of boy he is.
but ever since he grew up his life has suddenly changed.
when pip goes to a graveyard to give his dad flowers he bumps into a man if you are wondering what kind of a man he is you will just have to watch it .

Great Expectations is a black and white film. I used to be put off by black and white films because I thought they'd be boring and old-fashioned. But that was before I'd seen any. Great Expectations, if you think about it for a few minutes and remember a few scenes, is a lot better in black and white than colour. There are some scenes when you're looking at the main character, Pip, and he's all black, you can't see any of his features but behind him you can see all the details. And in the first few scenes Pip is on the marshes next to his house, going to the graveyard because his mother and father are dead and he's going to put flowers on their grave. If that had been in colour it wouldn't have had the same effect - scary, tense.

Great Expectations is originally a book by Charles Dickens. And personally I think it is a lot better than Oliver, the film. Because the characters are so real, I feel I could meet them on the street. And it makes me quite sad that I can't meet them on the street, because I'd like to. In some scenes it makes you feel worried or sad or happy.

There is a lot of character progress in the film. For example, Magwich, a criminal... But I don't think I should go into that because it might spoil it for you.

I highly recommend seeing this film.
