This spy adventure marked the beginning of one of cinema's longest-lasting franchise and introduced movie audiences to author Ian Fleming's secret agent with a license to kill - James Bond. The relatively unknown actor Sean Connery made an immediate impact as 007, effortlessly oozing the necessary style, sexual charisma and physical presence required for the role. The story takes Bond to the Bahamas, where he tries to stop the mysterious Dr No from sabotaging the US space programme from his secret base. Remaining faithful to the original book, this film presents a grittier side of Bond that sees him rely more on his wits than impressive gadgets.
