This comedy was made by many of the same people involved in the classic spoofs This Is Spinal Tap and Waiting for Guffman, and like those movies was mostly improvised by the cast. Here, the team has set their satirical sights on the world of championship dog breeding. As a camera crew descend on the Mayflower Kennel Club Dog Show, we meet all manner of curious animals - and their considerably more curious owners - as the competition becomes increasingly more cut-throat to become 'best in show'...

I really enjoyed this weeks film as it was packed with comedy. Originally, when I found out what we were going to watch, I thought the film was going to be terrible but I loved it. My favourite Dog was the winners dog as it was very adoribale and it deserved to win.

I didn't preview this DVD and inspite of its 12 certificate, I was somewhat uncomfortable watching it with my KS3 pupils. I just kept hoping that some of the innuendo was going right over their heads. Nevertheless, it was very entertaining and in spite of the fact that there was not much plot and very little action, the audience remained engaged throughout. The film was brilliantly acted: it had the unscripted feel of a genuine documentary as if much of the dialogue was improvised and inspite of the extreme cariacature you could almost believe that these weird characters were real people.
