In this wonderful movie from the African country of Chad, a family is torn apart when a father suddenly leaves his wife and children - two brothers named Amine (the younger) and Tahir (the older). With their mother unable to cope with the shock, the boys set off to find their father, having to travel further than they could ever have imagined in the attempt. This is a gentle and thought-provoking film but one that is also highly entertaining - and it may well change your mind about what African movies can offer. With English subtitles.

I liked the film because it was in a different language. it is about two boys whose dad leaves them without saying anything to them, not even goodbye. The boys try to find their father but can't. They think they see him in a film they watch at the cinema so they steal the film and then get sent to Koran school. it is very sad in places.

I think Abouna was a great film because it was first funny and then it became sad.One of the saddest
bits was when they get sent to koran school.I liked the bit where the big boy dropped his towel-
it was funny.I didnt like the bit when the big boy and the young boy got whipped for trying to run away.

I liked the film but it was boring at the same time because I found it a bit difficult to read the subtitles. The boys were sent to koran school because they stole a film from the cinema. They were beaten for trying to run away.It was very sad.

I didn't like Abouna very much because it was a bit boring and short . But I did like the part where they go to the movies and watch a movie with a man in it they think is their dad but is it their dad? They steal the film to find out more but then get sent to Koran school for stealing. It's quite sad in many places.

I really enjoyed the film. It was really good and enjoyable . I like the part when the boys' mother sang. And I liked the part the boys were playing football. I did not like the part when the Koran school master was hitting him.I think this film was really good .I loved the part when Tahir was falling in love with the deaf girl. However, the film was a little bit too long so I give this film 3 out 5 as it was still enjoyable.

i give abouna a 5/3 star because its a bit boringbut i think it gets better as the story carrys on. i dont like it when they steel a film reel and get caught .its very upsetting when they are sent away from there home and sent to Koran school and get treated like muck.its sad as Amine and Tahir get into quite a lot of trouble.but when Amine dies Tahir finds it upsetting without his brother but falls in love with a deafmute.
