  I thought this film was ok but I would watch it again.It starts of with a mother giving birth to two twins a brother and a sister.However the brother died and he was going to be the next cheef called spick.The sisterwants to do what the boy's and only boy's are learning.But she is determined to change that.
  
  I would recommened this to 5 and up.

  This film is probably what I would say pretty good taking in the fact that in some scenes the film is amazingly sad and in the next scene well its amazingly happy.

  Whale rider is an amazing film! You may find it slitely strange near the middle but I would advise you to keep watching because as it goes on it gets better and better. Some bits in this film I found a bit weard and confusing so I thought I wasn't going to like it but after I had seen the whole thing I loved it. You may think why does that happen but it all links together at the end. I would DEFFINITLY advise you to watch Whale rider as you will enjoy it very much!

  This film is confusing in places. I don't like it when the girl's grandad won't accept her aplogy and stays mad at her for a very long time.

  Whale rider is a very exciting film from Niki Caro.It's about a Maori girl called Paikea ,as her mother and brother died, Paikea was the one to survive .Now she lives with her grandma and grandfather.Moari girl's and women aren't really treated well, they can't really follow the spirit but she wants to be the leader of the village and the tradition says girls can not be leaders.
   Paikea wants to be free and his grandfather is very bossy.He decides to form a cultural school hopping to find a new leader.  
  He was teaching some boys how to do the spirit properly by telling them how to fight and have courage,and tells them spiritual songs of the Maoris .
  Paikea sometimes hear's whale noises and whales are very important to them.In one test ,you had to dive and get the tooth of the whale nobody got it and he cried to the ancient's to help him.What will happen next...???
  My favourite character is Paikea because she has the courage, she's not afraid of anything  .
  My favourite scene is nearly at the end .It is a beautiful moment but it is better if I don't tell you...
  I rate this film 5/5 because it is heart warming and magical story ,there is lots of inspiration despite the first bit.It teaches you traditions of other cultures.It is funny and sometimes sad.I will strongly recommend it to you!!

  The Whale rider is a fantastic film . It is about a young girl called Paikea who's mother died when she was born along with her twin brother.Her dad comes to visit occasionly but her grandfather and her grandma are her main carers. Unfortunately her grandfather does not believe in fairness with both the genders and is unhappy with this "worthless female".Paikea is appaled by the predjudice and decides to put an end to it even though she knows she may have to risk her life, will she succeed,will her grandfather stop her,or will she and her grandfather find that they have more in common than they first thought? I personally think that this film has a rollercoaster turn of events and it makes you cry A LOT.I would rate this film 5 stars because at first you might think oh what is happening but when you get into it, it really intreagues you and wraps you up in the story. I love this film but if you watch it keep the tissues handy!!
