The media might suggest that problems in schools are a recent development - but as this groundbreaking 60s drama underlines, classroom aggravation and failing grades have always been an issue. Mark Thackeray is the black engineer who takes on a job teaching 16-year-olds in a tough London school. His predominantly white pupils are destined for society's scrapheap and they turn their resulting hatred for authority - and their personal prejudices - against him. Undeterred, Thackeray confronts the teens head on, throwing out conventional education methods for a crash course in surviving the adult world.

It was absolutely brilliant; watching the way that one person who has patience and kindness could turn the behaviour of several others right round. I thought that perhaps some of the speaking was still really muffled, and that, however good it would be, it wasn't a total masterpiece - These are the only reasons why I didn't give this film full marks.

This film really did give me something to think about while I was watching it and there's a saying don't judge a book by it's cover so even though he was a black teacher they got used to him and realised that he wasn't so bad after all.
I liked the way he stood up to them and didn't care about what they thought and carried on with the children who wanted to learn.

To Sir with love, a film about a high school with children horribly behaved, swearing and shouting every where. I think this film was good because the characters and settings and words were so well played out ,and the story line from badly behaved to well behaved was brilliant. How did sir manage to get them to turn around was amazing and very clever. A true favourite!

I wasn't really keen on this film. It was about a black teacher when black and white people were not allowed to mix. He walked into a classroom where all the children had no manners, so he tried to teach them some and tried to organised a school trip but will he find love in the classroom.
Cast: Sidney Poitier, Christian Roberts, Judy Geeson, Suzy Kendall, Patricia Routledge.

I LOVE THIS FILM!!!! The film 'TO SIR WITH LOVE' is about a school and how the children there get abused by their parents, they are also racist, but the first coloured teacher had come to be a replacment for the teenagers there!

DIFFERENCES: The teenagers there have no uniform, they have a blackboard and desks that you can lift up the top of it.

SIMILARITIES: The teenagers there have normal lessons (P.E, Geography, etc, ect.)

They use slang and bad language. I would say it is not suitable for any persons under 10 years of age.

5 stars great film! You should watch!
