Bringing to life the much-loved story by British poet Ted Hughes, The Iron Giant takes place in a quiet American town in the 1960s. The tale begins when a young boy named Hogarth follows a trail of huge footprints leading from his house into the woods - and finds an iron giant from space! Instantly the two form a firm friendship, and when the army try and destroy this enormous visitor, Hogarth does everything he can to protect his giant pal. Beautifully animated, this is a film with lots of wit and a huge amount of heart.

I think that this film is alright but personally I don't like cartoons. My favourite character was the iron giant because he's really kind but misunderstood. The best part was when the giant jumped into the river and the water goes everywhere as it's really funny. There is a good twist at the end which was unexpected!

I thought this film was creative and Hogarth had a great imagination. My favourite part was when Hogarth and the giant went swimming, jumped in and flooded the town! Thanks Mr Paton - look forward to the next film! Stacey

The Iron Giant is a film about an alien who makes friends. I would rate it all ages, seeing that it is a U and I would also highly recommend it. It is a very emotional film that could make you cry. It is set in the 1950s in America and is based on the book The Iron Man by Ted Hughes but the film is very different and doesn't follow the same storyline. The film is made in 1999 and the animation isn't as clean as you get today. Please watch it!
