Bringing to life the much-loved story by British poet Ted Hughes, The Iron Giant takes place in a quiet American town in the 1960s. The tale begins when a young boy named Hogarth follows a trail of huge footprints leading from his house into the woods - and finds an iron giant from space! Instantly the two form a firm friendship, and when the army try and destroy this enormous visitor, Hogarth does everything he can to protect his giant pal. Beautifully animated, this is a film with lots of wit and a huge amount of heart.

The Iron Giant is one of my all time favourite films. It is about a boy called Hogarth who finds an iron man 100ft tall eating a power station. His mum picks him up not believing what he says. The rest of the town want to destroy it after seeing the iron giant because they think it is dangerous and can kill everyone. Hogarth proves the iron giant is good when the president sets a bomb to blow up the whole city. The Iron Giant flies into the air and flies straight into the bomb! Only one part of him came back. His bolt for his ear. But- because he is made from metal and has an ability for all of his parts to come back when they are lost, they end up with the head in Iceland!

My favourite part is when Hogarth jumps into the lake and persuades the Iron Giant to do it. When the iron giant does, all the water from the lake flies out and all over the grounds! My favourite character is the Iron Giant because he does really funny things like lift trees out of the ground thinking it's a plant!

I recommend this film to anyone because there are no scary moments and bad language and it is screamingly funny! I say it is for 3+ because children 2 and under won't understand it and get bored.

I enjoyed the film very much. It was sad at the end when the iron giant was blown up, but then all the pieces all over the world started to return to iron giant so he could rebuild him self.
