In this Japanese animated epic, Howl is the crotchety wizard who lives in a castle that not only stands on chicken legs - it can also grow and shrink in size. When Howl sees young hat-maker Sophie being persecuted by soldiers, he intervenes and saves her - but this makes the Witch of the Waste jealous, so she turns Sophie into an old crone. We follow Sophie's story as she struggles to make her way to the castle to get her curse reversed - while at the same time, the country begins preparing for a war. A fantastic and imaginative treat from the mind of Hayao Miyazaki, the director of Spirited Away.(Howl's Moving Castle was originally made in Japanese, but has been dubbed into English)

I really enjoyed this film because it had a good plot to it. I really liked it when Howl managed to change into a eagle, then suddenley change back without warning. I didn't really like it when the Witch of the waste came out with her powers drawn, she was UGLY!! I think that it is an excellent family film because when you watch it, it really intriges you.
I liked it so I think that it is a film for all ages. I would recommend this film as I think other people will like it. I definitly would watch this film again as I really enjoyed it. I will give this film a 5/5.

Howl's Moving Castle was really great. The fact that it was based on a book made it even greater. I would recommend it to absolutely ANYONE.

This is an engaging , exhilarating and comical adventure , which is produced as an amazingly brilliant animation .

The reason why I gave this modern motion picture 4 stars is the colours and contrast of images are both experimental and effective , also I felt the characters were as realistic as human actors would be expected to use on a hollywood film set ; the feelings of anger , frustration , love , care and hatrid were expressed with such dignity , such style , such conviction it is absolutely exceptional.

However , on the other hand , the way the story was portrayed in the beginning was not up to standard with rest of the film ,it lacked the plot line and imagination , which was so excellently demonstrated within the remaining 100 or so minutes left to watch .

To conclude , my view of this film is that it is an engaging family film , the pictures were excellent and the characters are brilliantly portrayed , using life like emotions which enable the audience an easy relation to most charaters.

Although it is a slightly slow starter , I would highly recommend this film to anyone with a vast imagination .

I thought that it was really imaginative.
I liked the castle because it had
chicken legs and the door could change
    to different times and places!!!
