Set in a futuristic Paris, this stunningly designed, blackly comic French film reveals a city in ruins, where food is in short supply and the last taboo - cannibalism - is no longer observed. Louison, a retired clown, takes a room and a job at a lodging house run by the local butcher, unaware that he's being lined up as dish of the day. When he falls in love with the butcher's daughter they decide to join up with the radical underground vegetarian movement - and try and escape in once piece. Voiced in FRENCH, Subtitled in ENGLISH.

This is a fantastic film; don't let the subtitles put you off. Highly recommended for older audiences! There are some extremely entertaining scenes that are bound to get you roaring with laughter!

This film represents the best that French post-apocalyptic surreal cannibalistic comedy has to offer. With sharp dialogue and a complex storyline this film has a quaint morbid charm and each of the characters are truly individual. The film employed interesting camera effects and unusual sets to produce an appealingly abstract unreal world. It uses but to comic effect and takes a light hearted view of death in general and if you are one of the relatively small group to whom this type of film appeals then I would certainly recommend it.
