This feelgood comedy set in west London follows the dreams of Jessminder and Jules whose shared passion for football brings them together in a local girls' team. The only problem is that Jess' traditional-minded Indian parents would never approve of such activity - so she spins a series of elaborate yarns in order to not get found out and continue to play. But when her sister Pinky's wedding falls on the same day as a vital match, she's left facing a dilemma over which part of her life should come first... Some dialogue in Punjabi and Hindi, subtitled in English.

‘And Chadha shoots a great shot,
Oh but the keeper saves it’
A great feel good film about a Sikh girl but it lacks something. This is about a Sikh girl called Jess (Parminder Nagra) and her friend Jules (Keira Knightly) but the thing that makes them different is their love of football. ‘Who would marry a woman who likes football and can’t even make chapattis’, one of the many digs at jess’ love of football and not cooking, from her mum. This tells us quite a bit about Sikh culture and how they live differently. It shows us about the way of the thinking and what they think of a daughter who is different to most. The story involves a lot of football training and people playing football. After getting asked by her new friend (Jules) she joins a football club run by an injured footballer. This though causes a problem as her parents don’t want her to carry on, so (like most people in films) she carries on without them knowing. Overall a good movie about culture and life of what other religions believes.
I’d say most people should see and would like this movie

    ‘Bend it like Beckham’ Review
A comedy about a girl named Jess who loves football but her family doesn’t like her playing it. It shows us a lot about the Indian culture and the Sikh religion. Things like her passion for football but she can’t play because that goes against the Sikh religion as she will be wearing shorts which don’t cover her body. Jess goes behind her family and plays football but then she gets a crush on her coach. Unfortunately she knows that she can’t have a relationship with her coach because he is white and in her culture she can’t have a relationship with a person out of her religion. In addition with all of that happening her sister is also getting married. So there is a lot of confusion. I would give this a 3/5 because it does tell us about the Indian culture and has an interesting storyline but goes off a bit which makes it boring. Overall it is a good movie and I recommend people to watch it.

In the movie bend it like beckham me Neha Dave has mixed emotion I think this movie is great at teaching us a girl’s life in the religion of Sikhism. The movie has a girl called Jess who LOVES playing football and her family mum , dad and don’t like her playing because she’s either surrounded by boys or has to wear short shorts. Jess also has a sister called pinky but she is a girly girl and loves boys and dressing up. A girl called Jules who is in a girls football club comes to the park and asks her if she wants to join their club jess gets through and she has to sneak out and play because e the parents are really strict and don’t like her playing. One day there is an American scout coming to watch the two amazing footballers jess and Jules. Its pinkys wedding on the same day as the American scout coming to watch what shall jess do?????????
