This feelgood comedy set in west London follows the dreams of Jessminder and Jules whose shared passion for football brings them together in a local girls' team. The only problem is that Jess' traditional-minded Indian parents would never approve of such activity - so she spins a series of elaborate yarns in order to not get found out and continue to play. But when her sister Pinky's wedding falls on the same day as a vital match, she's left facing a dilemma over which part of her life should come first... Some dialogue in Punjabi and Hindi, subtitled in English.

A comedy about bending the rules to reach her goal, the film is about two 18 year old with their hearts set on a future in professional soccer. Being a girl, her chances are limited to have a kick about in the local park, being an Asian girl, her family don't even agree with her to play football. As her mum says: "Who'd want a girl who plays football all day but can't make chapattis?".

I feel it was a film which had a clear meaning about Indian culture and sikh religion. It shows that Indian girls referring to (Indian culture) that they are not supposed to play football and believe that it’s dangerous. There is also allot of tension involved when Jeswinder is playing football and sneaking out without her parents noticing. It’s also in the time era when the 2002 World Cup took place in Japan and part of Korea. It’s a film with lots of tension, funny and it’s rated four stars because it includes tension and comedy. It’s lost a star because David Beckham wasn’t in the film and he could have given Jeswinder advice. Overall it was a good film and is a must see!

In this movie jessminder (jess) loves playing football. Her parents are traditional Sikhs and do not like Jess playing football with boys in the park. She discovers a girl’s football team she is over the moon and joins without her parents’ permission. a talent scout from America comes to see her and her friend Jules play in a match but it clashes with her sister’s wedding will she choose football of family?
This film is quite dissimilar to some of the other movies that star Parminder Nagra like twelfth night or what you will. In twelfth night there is a storm and in the beginning it is set on sea/ on a ship. In the begging of bend it like beckham it is set on a football pitch.
I like this movie because it is funny and I like the parts where jess makes an incredible goal and is wearing a sari also when her sister (pinky) helps her. This movie is very good and I would see it again. IMDB (internet movie database) give it 6.9 out of ten but I would give it 10 out of ten

Bend it like Beckham is a hilariously funny film. It is about an eighteen-year-old girl, Jess, who loves to play football. More than anything, she wants to join her idol: David Beckham, on the football pitch, but her strict, Sikh parents will never accept a football player for a daughter. Will Jess be able to fulfill her dream?

This movie tells us a lot about Sikh and other religions, their cultures and their lifestyles – e.g. Girls were expected to marry young in Sikh religion. I rate this movie 3 out of 5 stars. I would recommend everyone to watch this movie.

I think, Bend it like Beckham, is a good film with lots of information about the different cultures and their passion for the same sport.

This movie tells us about Sikh culture and their lifestyle. A girl called Jess is trying to fulfill her ambition of becoming a footballer even though her strict, sikh parents disapprove of this. She shares her passion with her new freind Jules.

This movie teaches us that no matter what culture or sex your are you can still be the best at a certain thing.

I gave this movie a 4 star because it is a good movie and has many good features.
