At some point in the near-future, astronaut Sam Bell is the only human needed to run a mining operation on the moon and the communication link with Earth is rather poor, so his entire source of conversation is a robot known as GERTY (creepily voiced by Kevin Spacey). In the circumstances, it's little wonder Sam is seeing strange things but is he losing his mind or closing in on the shocking truth? This is a clever and inventive sci-fi movie built around a great performance from Sam Rockwell as the frazzled Sam, and featuring some brilliant old-fashioned sets and models.

So, there's an astronaut and there's a robot and there are secrets and it's all on the moon! Well, I'm sure we all expected that. Yes, it's not your typical Moon Landing story but I should imagine that if it were that simple, the film wouldn't be as successful as it was (and it's not really a moon landing film, rather man been on moon for 3 years film). Sam Bell, an astronaut from the U.S.A. makes a discovery after crashing into a moon rock harvester. Want to know what he finds? No hints! Watch the film and you'll find out. And if that hook's not enough for you, the film's got a great soundtrack, a brilliant cast and a new director. With his debut film, it's Duncan Jones who then went on to make Source Code. Jones is a rising director and you shouldn't miss out on his first film. Make sure to focus on every minute of the film because if you're easily confused you'll need to piece together everything you've seen for an explanation. As GERTY the robot would show on his screen, the film receives a :) from me!

A one man film that packs a huge punch.

Yes, this film is a one man show. But it is FANTASTIC. Sam Rockwell stars as Sam, a astronaut who is on a three year job on the Moon. Humanity has found that moon rocks can be harnessed as energy, and has rendered the use of fossil fuels obsolete. It starts out fairly normal, Sam doing his job and interacting with his Robot companion GERTY voiced by Kevin Spacey. Strange Events take palce thats makes Sam question his sanity and identity. Sam Rockwell is electrifying in this film, the effects are great, but it is the characters and the performances that make this a fantastic film. The best Sci-fi Movie of the Century. Must see.

I admit, I took no interest in the film upon release. However, if I had known it was so amazing, I probably would've watched it sooner. This film is remarkebly incredible, with an astounding performance from Sam Rockwell and a great addition of Kevin Spacey as Gerty, Sam's robot friend. To be honest, I would never expect this kind of performance from Rockwell. I mean, let's face it, this is Justin Hammer from Iron Man 2 for crying out loud. 5 Stars

A really emotionally involving and interesting sci-fi film. Sam Rockwell is fantastic as the astronaut working out a three-year contract to maintain a lunar mining facility; it is quite minimalist in approach but the torment of the main character’s plight makes it really engrossing. A challenging film but one that is worth the investment.
